3D/2N Gangtok Sikkim Tour

Gangtok

Day 1 — Arrival & City Exploration Arrive by late morning and ease into the trip. Start at Ban Jhakri Falls (8AM–6PM, ~₹50 entry), a beautifully landscaped waterfall park. Head up to Enchey Monastery in the afternoon — a 200-year-old hilltop monastery with stunning Kanchenjunga views and a very peaceful atmosphere. End the evening strolling MG Marg, Gangtok's pedestrian promenade, which comes alive with lights, momos, and shopping after dark. Day 2 — High-Altitude Circuit (Start Early!) This is the highlight day. Leave by 7–8 AM as both spots require permits and have limited visiting hours. Stop at Tsomgo Lake (12,400 ft) — a glacial lake where you can do yak rides and wear traditional Sikkimese dress for photos. Carry heavy layers as it can be biting cold. Continue up to Nathula Pass (14,200 ft) at the Indo-China border — an extraordinary experience with prayer flags, army posts, and panoramic Himalayan views. ⚠️ Nathula is closed on Mondays — plan accordingly. Permits must be arranged through a registered local travel agency. Day 3 — Rumtek Monastery & Departure Spend a peaceful morning at Rumtek Monastery, the largest in Sikkim (~20 km from Gangtok). The taxi drops you at a checkpoint; there's a short uphill walk to the entrance. Don't miss the golden stupa inside the complex. Head back to Gangtok by noon for lunch and your onward journey. 📝 Quick Tips Best time to visit: March–June or October–December Carry Aadhaar/Voter ID for all permits Hire a local registered taxi for Day 2 — private vehicles aren't allowed on the Nathula route Altitude on Day 2 is serious — avoid heavy meals, stay hydrated, carry an oxygen spray if prone to AMS
